Foreign trade, also known as "foreign trade" or "import and export trade", refers to the exchange of goods and services between a country (region) and another country (region). This trade consists of two parts: import and export. For countries (regions) that import goods or services, it is import; For countries (regions) that ship goods or services, it is export. This began to emerge and develop in slave society and feudal society, and developed more rapidly in capitalist society. Its nature and function are determined by different social systems. [1]

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting. The meeting pointed out that next year, we will expand the high-level opening up to the outside world and stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment. [8]

In 2024, in terms of the total volume, China's foreign trade has continuously crossed the two trillion level of 42 trillion yuan and 43 trillion yuan, and the total value of imports and exports has reached 43.85 trillion yuan, an increase of 5% year-on-year [9]

In terms of policy reinforcement, we will combine addressing current prominent problems with promoting high-quality trade development, and promptly study and reserve new supporting policies, which will be issued in a timely manner as needed.
